This class is all about learning a completely new skill.  We have designed a class where you will be able to learn EVERYTHING you will need to know about this increasingly popular (but little known) cake medium.  Whether you have airbrushed before, or are a complete beginner, this class will teach you a host of brand new skills. We supply everyone with an airbrush in the class. If you already have an airbrush and/or have your own but are unsure how to get the best out of it, of course bring it along and we can show you how.

What you will learn

This class is all about perfecting the art of airbrushing on cake.   During the class, we will teach you:

• How to use an airbrush effectively and the “proper” way to create designs covering a cake.
• The fast way to cover a cake with a multitude of designs, colours and patterns (no more mixing colour into large pieces of fondant!).
• How to use colour  with an airbrush.
• How to “full colour” your cake.
• How to mix colours with an airbrush.
• How to shade, stencil and blend colours.
• How to stencil with an air brush.
• How to create free hand patterns
• Free hand patterns such as leopard print, zebra print , camouflage.
• How to make specialist patterns such as water effect and wood grain.
• How to spray flowers and smaller objects.
• How to spray a 6 inch dummy cake.
• How to spray an apple mini cake.
• How to build a picture design.
• How to properly clean and look after your airbrush including taking it apart and (more importantly) how to put it back together!

This class is all about working hands on.  You won’t be watching someone else doing something – you will do everything yourself.  As with all of our classes, you take home everything you make.  Above you can see some of the pictures of airbrushing in action.  This is a technique class so you will be learning LOTS of difference techniques rather than working on just one cake.

You will also be able to work with Dawn Butler’s own range of Airbrush paints, which will redefine the way you can airbrush, including the ability to spray easily onto chocolate!

Class Times, Level and Equipment

This class is a one day class. The class starts at 10.30 and runs to approximately 4.30pm.

Everything is explained to you step by step and as with all our classes, all equipment is provided for you.  You do not need to bring anything with you except a small packed lunch.

This class is suitable for beginners and intermediates  who want to advance their decorating skills. As our groups are small but our kitchen is very large with plenty of space, separate standing areas, seated areas, photography area and shop, we are able to cater for those of differing standards and ensure you get individual attention.

Your Tutor

This class will be taught by Dawn Butler (see Tutors Page), an expert in working with airbrushes.  Dawn knows everything there is to know about the airbrush having designs prototype airbrushes which are now used by many top cake decorators.  Dawns airbrush work is second to none so this is a real opportunity to ask an expert everything you could want to know about airbrushing techniques as well as to practice and try out techniques first hand.

Take Home Fact Pack and DVD

You will be given a fact sheet and a take home DVD describing the techniques you learnt during the day so you can refresh your mind next time you use your airbrush.  Of course, there are also lots of tips on our Facebook page

We supply lots of tea and coffee throughout the day and you can take breaks whenever you wish.

Location: Our Airbrushing Class is based at Pretty Witty HQ, a bright, spacious and airy 40 foot kitchen in Crowborough (TN6) on the Kent, East Sussex border.

Travel: We can assist with all travel arrangements including advising on trains and flights, pick up from the airport or train station.  For those coming by car, we have ample private and enclosed parking at the house.
