Overview

In this Project, Pretty Witty Cakes' tutor Claire Bowman shows you how to use her Cake Lace product and various ways you can use it to decorate your big cakes and cupcakes!

This Project is all about making and working with Cake Lace, From understanding how to make it to designs on cakes and cupcakes, the tutorial covers it all. And of course, who better to teach you then the inventor of cake lace herself! The videos will cover everything you need to know about decorating the cake and understanding cake lace

What you will learn

This Project is all about using Cake Lace to decorate and create innovative designs. You will learn:

How to make Cake Lace
How long to cook it in the oven
How to create material sheets with Cake Lace then use them to make various designs.
How to use Cake Lace with a tiered wedding cake including positioning, layered fabric and detailling
How to make all sorts of designs with Cake Lace on cupcakes
How to make Cake Lace 'fabric'
How to wash and dry cake lace mats
How to store cake lace mats
How to colour Cake Lace
Storage of cake lace and lengths you can store for
How to create a Victorian Rose from flower paste
How to create smaller flowers such as Petunias

At the end of the Project you will have a fabulous cake design which will "wow!" your guests and family.

How do the Projects work?

All our Projects are divided into Lessons so you can watch each section when you need to (there is no need to watch everything in one go). To see the list of Lessons, click on the Lessons tab. Each Lesson has a brief description in the blue box with the screen image.

Hi Claire - thanks for the tutorial. good to see how many ways Cake Lace can be used. I have a couple of questions:
1. What make was the flower veiner you used for the petunia flowers. I don't see it in the PWC shop.
2. I am using your design (slightly adapted) - hope you don't mind using the Alexandra mat for a Christmas themed wedding cake., as I think this mat will give an impression of snowflakes. The colour scheme will be bridal white/ivory with soft gold lace and ribbon around the separators. Do you have any tips as I think making sure the "snowflakes" are level could be a bit of a challenge. Also do you think it would be better to add these at the venue as long as I have time to do this and the piping? Any help would be appreciated.
